Jane - 1972 - Together (full album)

Jane is a German progressive rock Krautrock band, that was formed in October 1970 in Hanover, Germany. Album Inundated with every characteristic of progressive rock, Germany's Jane combined elements of jazz fusion, space rock, and even heavy metal at times to come up with a sound that was always exciting and never restrained. On 1972's Together, they fabricate a sound that combines the percussiveness of hard rock with the expansive wandering of makeshift melodies, all kept intact by the vocals of Berndt Pulst, who luckily doesn't have to be a great singer thanks to the intricacies of the organ and flute that are widely predominant. Nonetheless, this debut album offers up some engaging prog rock through the freestyled transience of the lead and bass guitars. The full 12 minutes of "Spain" is punctuated with some stellar drum playing via Peter Panka and some interesting singing from bass player Charly Maucher near the end. Showing signs that their music will gain experimental momentum in future albums (and it did), the placid eeriness that is germinated in "Daytime" and "Hangman" prove that Jane have their roots firmly planted in the space rock and Krautrock genres, only to evolve into other avant-garde areas later in the '70s on albums like Here We Go and Fire, Water, Earth & Air. As one of the most popular bands on the progressively oriented Brain label, Jane's exploratory brand of guitar/organ/percussion based music is well-established throughout these six tracks. Personnel Klaus Hess – lead guitar Charly Maucher – bass, vocals Werner Nadolny – organ, flute Peter Panka – drums, percussion Bernd Pulst – vocals http://www.allmusic.com/album/together-mw0000856183

They changed their name and outfit and performed several shows in G.I. Clubs in Austria and Bavaria. Three months later, the band went to Vienna to record their first single at Austrophon-Studio and organ player Walter Holz fixed a record deal with the Swiss/Austrian label Lesborne. The song was on power play in the radio and they got offered to release another record («Life Is A Dream») by the German label Intersong, which only got released in small quantities due to technical problems in the end of the recording process. After that they returned to Vienna to record Art Boys Collection – Jesus Said , which was number one in the charts for six weeks. The Art Boys Collection didn’t bill themselves as a progressive rock band, as they were a beat band. After having problems with journalists from the Austrian Radio Broadcasting, the band was banned by them. Their shows often got opened up by Waterloo & Robinson who started their career at that time. Gerhard Egger left the band and got replaced by Hubert Perfahl. Before he quit, Egger finished the recording of their only album «Stoned Wall». The Art Boys continued and played shows till 1972, also opening stages for Golden Earring and Deep Purple. The band finally disbanded and 1972 and stopped playing live in 1975

Matching Mole - 1972 - Little Red Record (full album)

Matching Mole was an English progressive rock band associated with the Canterbury scene. Robert Wyatt formed the band in October 1971 after he left Soft Machine and recorded his first solo album The End of an Ear. He continued his role on vocals and drums and was joined by David Sinclair, of Caravan, on organ and piano, Phil Miller on guitar and Bill MacCormick, formerly of Quiet Sun, on bass. The name is a pun on Machine Molle, the French translation of the name of Wyatt's previous group Soft Machine. Their first, eponymous album was released in April 1972, the bulk of which was composed by Wyatt himself, with the exception of "O Caroline" (a Dave Sinclair composition with lyrics by Wyatt about his recent breakup with girlfriend Caroline Coon) and Phil Miller's "Part Of The Dance". For their second album, Matching Mole's Little Red Record, released in November 1972 and produced by Robert Fripp of King Crimson, Sinclair was replaced by New Zealand-born keyboard player and composer Dave MacRae who had already played a guest role on the first album. This album was more of a team effort, with Wyatt concentrating on lyrics and vocal melodies and leaving the composing to his bandmates. Matching Mole disbanded in late September 1972 immediately upon completion of a European tour supporting Soft Machine, with Sinclair and Miller going on to form the more successful Hatfield and the North. A new lineup - consisting of Wyatt, MacCormick, ex-Curved Air keyboardist Francis Monkman and jazz saxophonist Gary Windo - was due to record a third album in 1973. This was cancelled when Wyatt fell from a window in June 1973, and was paralysed from the waist down, and therefore unable to continue drumming. Matching Mole's Little Red Record (1972) is the second album of the English Canterbury Scene band Matching Mole. The band was formed in 1971 by Robert Wyatt after he left Soft Machine. Compared to their first album, Little Red Record was more of a team effort, with Wyatt taking a less involved role. It was produced by Robert Fripp of King Crimson, and features Brian Eno as a guest musician. The album title refers to Chairman Mao's Little Red Book. This reference is also carried over to the faux-Chinese style of the album cover, which is reminiscent of posters created during the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Personnel: Robert Wyatt - drums, vocals Bill MacCormick - bass Dave MacRae - Fender Rhodes electric piano, piano, organ, synthesizer Phil Miller - guitars Guest: Brian Eno - synthesizer (on "Gloria Gloom") Ruby Crystal (pseudonym for Julie Christie) - additional vocals (on "Nan's True Hole")

Ellis - 1972 - Riding On The Crest Of A Slump (full album)

Steve Ellis is an English rock / pop singer, who now lives in Brighton. His biggest success was with the band, Love Affair. They and he are most well known for the songs "Everlasting Love", "A Day Without Love", "Rainbow Valley" and "Bringing On Back the Good Times". Ellis later felt that Love Affair had run its course, and he left in December 1969 for a solo career: "We never really made it big anywhere but Britain and I think that if we had started to happen in America, I wouldn't have left". In the early 70s he formed the band "Ellis", a short lived partnership with keyboardist Zoot Money. Other members included ex-Peter Bardens guitarist Andy Gee; ex-Fat Mattress bassist Jimmy Leverton, later replaced by Nick South; and drummer Dave Lutton. The group released two albums, Riding on the Crest of a Slump in 1972, and Why Not? the following year. In 1976 one of the most popular Serbian and ex-Yugoslav bands, Smak, covered his song "El Doomo" under the title "El dumo", and achieved great success with it.
